Absolutely Fish

Earth Day 2007

Earth Day is April 22nd

"Oceans are more ancient than the mountains, and freighted with the memories and dreams of time."
-H.P. Lovecraft

Clean water is an absolute necessity for life. Understanding aquariums and organism husbandry, one can never disregard the importance of pristine germ-free water. I often think about our fishes natural habitats. Pollution, dredging and destruction of our shore-lines and waterways sadden me.

Third world communities rely on clean water located hundreds of feet below the earth's surface. Unfortunately, most children and families have no choice but to drink and bathe in disease infested ponds and streams. We Americans are fortunate to live in the richest country in the world where these problems are of little concern to us. Earth Day and the week prior gives us all a chance to reflect and possibly do something positive for our planet. Express your concerns, actions, or pledges for the animals we love, or the people who live in those countries. "Clean water transforms lives".

April 21st - April 26th

We are presently involved in a number of projects providing safe water, financial, and food security to African countries. "Zambia's Water for Life Project in Makungwa" is a project in which we are building a well. The will will provide over 600 gallons of safe water per day. We are hoping we will be able to provide pictures when the project is complete. "Malawi Fish Farming Project" seeks to provide food security and finance to 2,000 resource poor households. The fishing communities around the rift lakes of Africa are in dire need of our help. This is our way of giving back.

Thank you, and please take care of your fish
